I began the position in 1993, the year I got my first computer. It was definitely a leap of faith for both the church and me since I had no actual experience. With the encouraging words of my church family, I’ve learned “on the job”. That “job” includes formatting bulletins, newsletters, brochures, and posters, sending out communications, and other needs of the pastor, church committees and members. This has always been and continues to be a “labor of love” and one of the ways I can serve my God and my church.
I came to HAUMC 20 years ago. I began my journey in Methodism 72 years ago when I was baptised. Upon arrival at HAUMC, I became involved in the Disciple Program, led by Rev Elizabeth Bachelder Smith. She invited me to become a Lay Reader on Sundays. Through the years I studied to become a Lay Servant and, subsequently, Co-Lay Leader. I continue studying for the Lay Ministry. I am in the choir, United Methodist Women, Worship Committee, and assist with Community Suppers here in Gardiner. I have been supported in my journey by Pat McKee and Pastor Kathleen Decker-Szakas. Members of HAUMC have supported me in many ways. I thank God every day for the love and support I feel here.
